Canva, the popular online design platform, faced a major global outage on Monday, disrupting workflows for designers, marketers, and casual users around the world.
The issue began early in the day, with thousands of users encountering error messages such as “Connection timed out” and “The initial connection between Cloudflare’s network and the origin web server timed out.” According to Downdetector, a real-time platform outage tracker, over 1,400 complaints were logged at the height of the disruption.
The outage affected both the desktop website and mobile app versions of Canva. Many users were unable to upload files, experienced frozen editing tools, or struggled with extremely slow performance.
Canva quickly acknowledged the issue through its official system status page and provided updates via its X (formerly Twitter) account. The company stated that its engineering teams were actively working to fix the problem and restore services.
This widespread service disruption has sparked discussions about contingency planning among freelancers and small businesses who rely heavily on Canva’s platform for daily operations.
Canva is well-known for offering intuitive, drag-and-drop tools that help users design everything from resumes to social media graphics. With collaborative features and a vast library of templates, it's a go-to solution for many digital creatives.
