Crystal Brawl stands out as one of the most dynamic missions in Borderlands 4. It blends claustrophobic cavern combat with large-scale set pieces, offers a memorable introduction to Amara, and culminates in a cinematic showdown against industrial machinery. With optional objectives, multiple enemy types, and Amara's assistance in Borderlands 4 Boosting battle, the mission feels both challenging and rewarding-setting the stage for the greater conflicts yet to come. Having enough cheap Borderlands 4 Money will help you pass this mission easily.
The Backhive is one of the fearsome world bosses you'll encounter in Borderlands 4. Lurking deep inside the Abandoned Auger Mine known as The Claim, this monstrous foe is more than just a fight-it's a farming opportunity for some of the game's most powerful loot.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the Backhive: where to find it, how to defeat it, and all the Legendary gear it drops.
Backhive Location
You'll find the Backhive at the very end of The Claim, an Abandoned Auger Mine located in The Fadefields. Conveniently, this mine sits close to Zadra's Safehouse, so that's your best starting point.
To get there:
Fast travel to Zadra's Safehouse.
Leave the safehouse through its only exit, heading west.
You'll spot a massive Kratch nest glowing green. Skirt around this nest to discover a dimly lit chamber.
Here, you'll encounter a Clave wall-walk through it to officially enter the Abandoned Auger Mine.
Inside, progress forward until you reach the boss arena, where the Backhive awaits.
Farming Tip: After your first kill, you can use Moxxi's Big Encore machine near the boss entrance to immediately replay the fight. This allows you to farm both loot and XP. Your first completion also awards 40 SDU points, a valuable boost for your character progression.
All Backhive Legendary Drops
The Backhive is worth farming not only for XP but also for its Legendary loot pool. Each kill has a chance to drop high-end weapons and Borderlands 4 Gear exclusive to this encounter. While the specific items vary depending on your game version and balance patches, players have reported the following categories:
Legendary Shotguns – devastating close-range power, often with splash or elemental bonuses.
Legendary SMGs – rapid-fire, ammo-efficient guns perfect for sustained damage.
Legendary Grenade Mods – crowd-control tools to handle the swarms of Kratch.
Legendary Class Mods and Shields – highly sought after for specific character builds.
Note: Since loot tables can be adjusted post-launch, keep an eye on community updates or patch notes for the most current list of Backhive drops.
How to Defeat the Backhive
The Backhive is a massive, four-legged beast with relatively few attack types. Don't be fooled, though-each move can be punishing if you're not prepared. The fight takes place in cheap Borderlands 4 Boosting a wide cavern with scattered pillars and a hazardous acid pool in the center. Use the terrain wisely to survive.
