How Do Story Arcs Work in Ashes of Creation?

Smaller story arcs tend to cycle faster. Once completed, they can return relatively quickly, sometimes with slight variations. Larger arcs usually stay dormant for longer after finishing.

From a player perspective, this means content availability changes over time. If a certain activity is not available today, it may return later. Most players learn not to rush everything and instead engage with whatever arcs are currently active in their region.

Are Story Arcs Meant for Low-Level or High-Level Players?

Story arcs are built to support both.

Some arcs are clearly aimed at high-level or endgame players. These usually require specific power thresholds and coordinated group play. Lower-level players typically cannot participate directly in these sections.

Other story arcs are structured in layers. In these cases, lower-level players handle early objectives, while higher-level players engage later stages. What makes this interesting is that progress at lower levels can influence what higher-level players are able to do.

For example, if early objectives are not completed, certain endgame encounters or rewards may not become available. In general, this encourages participation across the level spectrum rather than isolating content to one group.

In general, participating when you can and learning how your actions connect to the larger system is more valuable than trying to optimize everything. Story arcs reward awareness and cooperation more than speed.
