Season 12 doesn't mess about. You'll be Masterworking a "pretty good" drop, thinking you're only a few taps away from usable gear, and then—boom—Obducite's gone. Not low. Gone. It's like the season quietly swapped the value of everything overnight. If you're trying to keep pace, it helps to treat your early gear as temporary and only commit once the rolls are worth it, the kind of stuff you'd actually keep alongside your Diablo IV Items wishlist. Otherwise you're just feeding materials into items you'll replace two hours later.
1) Treasure Breach is the Obducite buttonA lot of players see a Treasure Breach Nightmare Sigil and bin it. They're chasing the "perfect" layouts, or they don't want a run that feels gimmicky. This season, that's a mistake. Treasure Breach turns the place into a goblin parade, and goblins are basically walking Obducite piñatas in Torment 4. You'll see piles in the 600–1,500 range per goblin, and if your clear speed's decent, a short run can spike into tens of thousands of mats. The real trick is boring but effective: stop wasting Sigil Powder on lower tiers. Hoard it. Hit T4. Craft a batch until you land Treasure Breach, then sprint it like you're on a timer.
2) Don't brute-force T4 if it slows your loopPeople get stubborn about farming everything in Torment 4 because it feels "correct." But if your damage isn't there yet, you'll spend more time fighting health bars than actually earning anything. If a dungeon takes twice as long, the fancy tier doesn't matter. Run the difficulty where you're flying, not crawling. You're aiming for repeatable, quick clears and steady Masterworking progress. If that means doing your Breach runs when you're fresh, or swapping builds to something faster and safer, do it. The season rewards rhythm more than ego.
3) Bloodied Infernal Hordes for XP and repOnce your Obducite problem is handled, you'll want the other half of the engine: Bloodied Infernal Hordes. That's where the XP feels real, and the seasonal rep track moves like it should. You need Bloodied Compasses, and the easiest way to stack them is staying active in Helltides—spinning fire tower events, mystery chests, the usual. The Relentless Butcher is the gatekeeper here. In T4 he's a total sponge, so most of the time T3 is the sweet spot: faster waves, higher Brutality streaks, and you get to those Greater Bloodied Caches without losing momentum.
Keeping the loop going without burning outThe season starts feeling better when you rotate on purpose: Breach dungeons for materials, then Hordes for levels and caches, then back again before you're broke. If RNG keeps slamming the door and you just want to skip that awkward cold-start week, some players top up by grabbing a compass stack or a starter piece through U4GM, then getting back to actually playing instead of scraping for scraps.
