How to Use the ABS Challenge1. Initiating a Challenge
After a pitch is called, press Down on the D-Pad immediately to challenge the call. A prompt will appear on-screen, giving you about 2 seconds to react. 2. Challenge Allotment
Each team starts with two challenges per game. - Success: If the call is overturned, you keep the challenge.
- Failure: If the call stands, you lose one.
3. Extra Innings
If your team runs out of challenges, you are granted one new challenge at the start of each extra inning. Beginner Tips for Smart Challenges1. Save Challenges for High-Leverage Moments
Don’t waste challenges early in the game on simple counts like 0-0 or 1-0. Instead, use them in situations that could change the outcome: - 3-2 count with runners on base
- 1-2 count where a reversed call keeps your batter alive
2. Understand the Strike Zone
The ABS strike zone is a 2D rectangle over the middle of the plate, not at the front edge. Even if a pitch looks outside when it crosses the plate visually, it could still be a strike according to the system. 3. Batter-Specific Zones
The system uses the batter’s measured height to define the strike zone, not how low they crouch. Watch for hitters who crouch deeply; their “true” strike zone may feel higher than it looks. Managing the ABS Challenge FeatureIf you prefer the classic “umpire’s word is law” style, you can toggle ABS on or off: - Go to Settings > General.
- Open the Rules tab.
- Find ABS Challenge System and toggle it as desired.
